Alumni Mourn Dr. Patacsil's Passing

Dr. Gregorio Patacsil, U.P. ’59, professor of medicine and cardiology, UERM’S first chief resident in medicine (1962), well respected cardiologist in the Philippines, beloved mentor, physician and friend to so many, succumbed to a heart ailment while giving a lecture at the Philippine Heart Association on Saturday morning, March 5, 2011.

Stunned alumni at an email forum expressed their sorrow and tributes to a towering figure who had not only taught them well but inspired them to become good, compassionate and caring doctors.

His remains are to be cremated on Thursday, March 10, 2011. “Manong Greg” as many fondly called him was a native of Sta. Maria, Ilocos Sur in Northern Philippines. He is survived by his wife Winnie and daughter Norma. His legacy is in the heart of all of us who knew him. May he rest in peace!
